FUNAG and Rio Branco Institute promote lecture on global governance and self-determination by Filipe G. Martins, Special Advisor to the President of the Republic
The Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) and the Rio Branco Institute (IRBr) held, on May 9, 2019, a lecture and debate on global governance and self-determination, given by Filipe G. Martins, Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs to the President of the Republic.
A bachelor in International Relations from the University of Brasilia (UnB), Filipe Martins is also a teacher, writer and political analyst, with particular interest in political philosophy, geopolitics and forecasting.
The event was hosted by Ambassadors Maria Stela Pompeu Brasil Frota, Director of FUNAG’s Institute for Research on International Relations (IPRI), and Gisela Maria Figueiredo Padovan, Director of IRBr.
In his three-hour talk, Martins addressed topics which encompass great challenges in current times. He spoke, among other concepts, of the difference between globalism and globalization, of global governance, of nationalism, and of democracy.
The event was attended by diplomats, members of the academy, journalists, and students.
