Lecture with former minister of Foreign Affairs Celso Lafer
Another lecture of the series “Percursos Diplomáticos” was held on March 27, and had the participation of the former chancellor Celso Lafer, at the Rio Branco Institute’s auditorium. The event was organized by Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) and its International Relations Research Institute (IPRI), in partnership with Rio Branco Institute (IRBr).
Minister of Foreign Affairs during the administrations of Fernando Collor (1992) and Fernando Henrique Cardoso (2001-2002), Lafer talked about his trajectory in the diplomacy, and some events that preceded the 92 Rio Conference, which gathered over 100 heads of state. He also mentioned his mission to the United Nations organizations in Geneva, as well as his mission as the Brazilian representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Watch the lecture.
The undersecretary general for Latin America and the Caribbean, ambassador Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita; FUNAG’s president, ambassador Sérgio E. Moreira Lima; the deputy director-general of IRBr, minister Sérgio Brareiro; and IPRIS’s director, minister Paulo Roberto de Almeida, also participated in the table.
