FUNAG releases a biography on the diplomat Edmundo Penna Barbosa da Silva
The Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) published the work "Edmundo P. Barbosa da Silva e a construção da diplomacia econômica brasileira" by Rogério de Souza Farias, an author with a PhD in International Relations from the University of Brasília. A career diplomat, Edmundo Penna Barbosa da Silva (1917-2012) played a crucial role in the negotiations that benefited Brazilian foreign trade and was the central character in the developmentalism of the 1950s. He was a coordinator of economic diplomacy in the pursuit of foreign capital, in raising trade tariffs, in boosting ties with neighbors, and reopening trade relations with the Soviet Union. The book's preface is given by ambassador Marcilio Marques Moreira.
